Warehouse and workshops, now shops and vacant. Mid C18, early
C19 with alterations c1860 and restoration 1989. Brick, some
English bond, slate roof.
2 builds: 3-storey, 6-window range to rear of Nos 165A-169
Briggate (qv) with late C19-early C20 single-storey lean-to;
cambered heads to first-floor windows, flat arches to first
floor, sashes in flush frames, C20 windows and rebuilding to
walling to left; round tie-bar plates.
3-storey, 7-window former warehouse, set back slightly from
line of range to right, the 2 windows right possibly an
infill; central cambered arches to former loading doors;
round-arched doorway right in moulded stone surround with
thistle motif, panelled double doors, threshold stone has
crudely-carved inscription: 'M T ROBERTSON'; cambered arches
to windows, C20 frames; 'S' shaped tie bar plates; stepped
eaves.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Possibly part was the premises of P Waugh, cornflour and bacon
dealer, in the later C18 and early C19. For further historical
information, see Nos 165A-169 Briggate (qv).
The Queen's Court and Briggate group is a rare survival of the
type of mixed housing and workshop complex built in restricted
areas of the centre of Leeds in the later C18 and C19.
