No.48

II

House and warehouse, now shop. House mid C18, altered C20,
warehouse probably later. Rendered brick, slate roof. 3
storeys, 4 first-floor windows and quoins to street frontage,
the warehouse extends to rear and south face has 7 first floor
openings.
Main facade, to street: 4-pane sashes in keyed architraves,
sill bands; upper-floor window heads altered, quoins stop at
same line suggesting that the eaves/roof has been rebuilt. C20
shop to ground floor. Left return: 2 tiers of loading doors,
altered to windows; segmental heads to windows, C20 frames.
INTERIOR: no C18 details remain apart from the original back
wall of the one-and-a-half-room deep house, broken through
when the rear range was added; some evidence of end
fireplaces. A vaulted cellar extends below the entire
building, doorways and ramps rising to Queen's Court
entrances.
