Woollen warehouse with basement railings. Mid C19. Red/brown
brick, top storey rebuilt in brighter red brick, stone
dressings, slate roof, wrought-iron railings. U-plan of 4
storeys over basement, 9 first-floor windows in 3 bays, the
narrower outer bays break forward slightly and are
gabled.4-pane sashes throughout.
Ground floor: central goods entrance with stone surround of
pilasters, entablature and shallow pediment; wide brick
segmental-arched entrance at centre of right bay has 4 stone
steps with nosed treads, a 4-pane overlight and flanking
windows; wide segmental-arched window flanked by sashes far
left; sashes flank the central entrance. Upper floors: sashes
in brick arches throughout, a round-arched window at the
centre of the outer bays, top floor, in a full-height shallow
round-arched recess; above the central entrance the windows
are in a full-height recess. Stone bands at floor and sill
levels, eaves and gable coping, central panel above eaves
flanked by blocks.
Right return: 6 evenly-spaced windows, all flat-arched; large
stone porch far right with panelled door in pilastered
surround with entablature and cornice; stone floor and sill
bands; stone and wrought-iron brackets above 2nd-floor
windows, possibly sign-board supports.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: basement railings: moulded standards with
vase finials, plain rails with spearhead finials.
