Offices. Dated 1873, altered C20. Probably by Henry Walker for
William Smith. Ashlar, slate roof, wrought-iron railings with
gate. Gothic Revival style.
4 storeys over basement, 2 uneven bays. Panelled double doors
to right in a moulded pointed arch under a gable with 2 small
Gothic windows and quatrefoil opening, canted bay carried up
to a turret with octagonal spire and gargoyles. Wider left bay
has cross windows to ground floor, paired flat-arched windows
to 1st and 2nd floors and 3 Gothic windows of 2 lights with
plate tracery to 3rd floor; quatrefoil plaques and incised
date in coped gable surmounted by a crocketed finial.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: basement railings: ashlar wall, square
panels of ironwork with central boss and circles, standards
with leaf finials.
