House, built mid or late C16 as a stable range attached to rear of the King's
Head Inn (now Nos.60 and 62 High Street). Major alterations of c.1980. 2
storeys, 5 bays. Timber-framed, the framing exposed towards the yard with
plastered infill panels. Concrete tiled roof. C20 casements and boarded and
battened entrance door. Good unmoulded framing exposed internally: arch-
braced studwork and diamond-mullioned windows, some quite complete but
blocked. A good queen-post roof of an unusual type for Mid Suffolk: arch-
braced cambered tie-beams, square-sectioned queen-posts and collars, with
clasped purlins above the collars. The building was extended rearwards
c.1980.
