Bowood estate cottage, early C19, squared ironstone with thatched
half-hipped roof and south end stack. One and a half storeys,
picturesque cottage style. Stone mullioned windows with
hoodmoulds and iron small-paned casements. One upper 2-light
window under eyebrow, one 3-light to ground floor right. To left,
roof is swept down over former open verandah on timber posts, now
infilled. C20 door. Original door in stone surround within.
North end wall has 2-light to each floor.
The house is marked on 1763 J. Powell map but appears later in
style. The thatched cottages of Sandy Lane are an outstanding
example of an estate village in the picturesque manner.
