West tower to former Presbyterian Church. 1896-7. Red brick
with yellow terracotta ornament and intermittent banding;
gable-facing saddle-back roof of slate. Angle buttresses
setting back to just below parapet. 5-light window with
Perpendicular tracery to west face. Top stage with bell
openings that consist of a flat-arched triplet to each face,
with mullions and reticulated tracery heads. Broad weatherings
to this 5-light opening and bell stage. Decorative parapet
with blind tracery panels; gable end pierced by 2-light window
with flat-arched tracery head. Finials to corners of parapets
and apex of each gable. Diminutive fleche to centre ridge.
Forms a group with no. 1 Greenbank, former lodge to Sefton
Park (q.v.). The recent development attached to the ritual
east of the tower is not included in the listing.
