Cl6 timber framed building of 2 storeys and attic, 5 windows in all, irregular.
High pitched, tiled roof with compound ridge stack.
In detail - to left - way in to yard with 1st floor oversailing and supported
on timber joints. 1 small leaded casement.
In centre - Restored shop front with brick base and centre double glazed door
with square paned windows on either side with mullions and transoms. Restored
architrave moulding above shop front and door.
lst floor - Vertical ½ timbering with plaster infilling. 2 small leaded lights.
To right - 3 gable ends with centre gable end projecting and supported on timber
posts forming covered porch. 2 side gable ends with attic windows, square
bay projection carried up 2 storeys with mullioned windows and oversailing gable
end with one supporting bracket to left. Octagon bay window to right of door
with mullions and transoms and supporting oversailing lst floor. Projecting
oriel window with mullions and transoms on 1st floor supporting oversailing
gable end with brackets. All 3 gable ends with moulded eave boards and pendants.
Restored front door with pointed arch (up 3 stone steps.)
Cobbled pavement in front.

Nos 1 to 4 (consec), No 6, The Castle Inn and the Gate to Chiddingstone Castle
form a group.
