Dated 1697 but probably masking older framed structure. 2 storeys and 3 dormers.
Symmetrical elevation with centre doorway in moulded frame and 5 sets of diamond
paned casement windows. Front door up 4 steps. Wide brick plinth and rendering
above with moulded eaves and no gutter. Ridge tile roof. Incised ornament
in plaster around 1st floor windows and around corners and edges of rendering.
4 incised medallions between lst floor windows and in gable ends of dormers.
Date 1697 incised in plaster rendering above doorway.
Note. Small connecting link between No 4 and the Village shop. 1 storey. Tile
roof. Cobble stones in front forming continuous road side verges.
Nos 1 to 4 (consec), No 6, The Castle Inn and the Gate to Chiddingstone Castle
form a group.
