Wharfinger's house. C1815 with later alterations. Possibly designed by Benjamin Bevan in the 'Old Grand
Union' style found elsewhere on the Leicester Line. T-plan. Painted brick with hipped, slate roofs with
tall external wall stacks. Symmetrical front to wharf. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Central doorway with part-glazed
C20 door and glazed overlight. C20 open porch with felt roof. On either side, a single 3-light casement
window, flanked by rectangular shutter recesses. Above, a central 2 light casement, flanked by single 3-
light casements, similar to those below. All openings have cambered arches. All casements are LC19 or
EC20. Adjoining to left, a single storey Wharfinger's office. Painted brick. Pitched, slate roof with gable
end stack. Off-centre doorway with plank door. To right a single 3-light casement, similar to those on
the house. A little altered example of a canal wharf house, of a type now increasingly rare.
