Tunnel entrance. Early C19. James Barnes engineer. Red brick parapet patched
with blue brick and partly rendered, stone coping. The arch is framed by flat
pilasters. Flanking walls partly rendered brick, curve forward slightly ending
with flat buttresses Blocked opening with rendered lintel in centre of parapet.
Brick string course at base of parapet. The tunnel was opened in 1814 and is
1528 yards long.
