A late C15 timber-framed building containing an inner courtyard. There
is a C13 stone vaulted cellar beneath the Hotel. The earliest portion
above ground is the south front. 2 storeys and attic. 5 windows the
1st floor is studded and overhangs on the projecting ends of the floor
joists and bressumer. The westernmost bay of the 1st floor is built out
over the entrance to the stable yard and rests on 3 wooden posts with 3
beams across them and curved brackets adjoining them. Beyond this yard
the Hotel is continued into another building containing 2 windows and 1
dormer. (The north front of this portion of the hotel has been refaced
with brick, though the upright beams and curved braces have been preserved.)
Most of the windows of the Hotel are modern. Tiled roof. Doorway with
carved jambs. On the east front of the entrance to the stable yard the
infilling of the ground floor is of brick instead of plaster. The 1st floor
of the building overhangs on all fronts. There is a gable at the east
end of the north front. The interior contains Tudor fireplaces and panelling.
To the east the Hotel is continued into an C18 red brick building of 2
storeys and attic, 2 windows and 2 dormers.
