Farmhouse, now detached house. Late C16, altered and extended C17
and refronted C18. Timber-framed, rebuilt in rubble stone, tiled
roof, gable end brick stacks. L-plan; parlour wing at south end.
Two-storey, 3-window west front. Early C19 six-panelled door in
ovolo-moulded architrave with flat stone hood on brackets, to right
of centre, 4-light C18 mullioned. casement to left, single-light and
C20 two-light mullioned casement to right; the latter inserted
into former doorway. First floor has two 3-light and one 2-light
casements; raised eaves: Gable-end of mid C17 rubble stone
parlour wing to right has original 4-light wooden ovolo-mullioned
casement to ground floor, 3-light casement to first floor and 3-
light wooden attic casement, coped verge with saddlestone. Right
return has C20 French windows, 2-light C20 leaded casements, two 2-
light wooden casements to first floor. Left return with single-
storey shed with hipped pantiled roof. Rear of wing has 2-light
chamfered mullioned wooden casement to ground and first floors,
main range to right has short timber-framed gabled wing with 2-
light and 3-light casements, to right is C19 lean-to extension with
slate roof.
Interior: Main range has timber-framed partitions, deep chamfered
beams with stepped stops, blocked open fireplace with chamfered
lintel, planked doors with strap hinges, main post marking end of
original 2-bay range on east wall. Added bay between original
range and parlour wing has ovolo-moulded doorcases with stops and
leaded window, now on internal rear wall. Timber-frame with curved
bracing exposed on inside of rear wall on first floor, 2-bay collar
and tie-beam roof to original range with cambered collars, small
open fireplace in north bedroom. C17 parlour wing has moulded
stone Tudor-arched fireplace with moulded cornice, deep chamfered
ceiling beam, first floor has smaller Tudor-arched fireplace, 2-bay
collar and tie-beam roof with chamfered purlins. A house of at
least five phases; originally two C16 timber-framed bays, extended
by one bay and short wing to east and later by the parlour wing to
south, main range rebuilt in rubble stone and eaves raised,
probably during C18.
