Cottage. C18. Plastered cob on rubble footings; rubble stacks with C20 brick tops;
thatched roof. 2-room plan cottage with central entrance facing south-west set
between Nos 2 and 4 Fore Street (q.v.). End stacks. 2 storeys. Formerly
symmetrical 3-window front of C19 16-pane sashes now with C20 French window on
ground floor left. Central doorway now contains C20 glazed door and zinc-roofed
monopitch hood on plain posts.
Interior has plain carpentry detail. This cottage is slightly larger than most of
its neighbours. It is one of a row of 13 cottages which together form the longest
continuous run of thatch-roofed buildings in Devon, and probably the longest run in
England.
