Description

NORTH HILL CONGDON'S SHOP
SX 27 NE
4/133 The Old Pump House including wall
adjoining north and north east
28.4.86
II
Pump house including adjoining wall. Circa early to mid C19. Slate rubble walls.
Rag slate pyramidal hipped roof without ridge tiles.
Plan: Square on plan with open front away from the road, and facing a field boundary
wall which forms a small enclosure in front.
Exterior: Apart from the open front there are no openings in the walls.
Interior: Inside the pump house there is an iron pump, probably C19, against the
right side wall towards the back. Just outside in the side wall to the left is a
niche with slate shelves. The roof structure appears to be original and has
diagonally crossed ties.
This pump house is an interesting relic, virtually unaltered.
