House, former farmhouse. Probably mid-late Cl7. Brick walls on rubble stone base:-
part of original rear wall (now internal) of timber framing. Tiled roof with stone
eaves courses, hipped at right end. 2 brick stacks, one at left end, one right of
centre. 2 storeys. Front wall buttressed. Ledged door into cross-passage. Pair
of French doors at left end. Ground floor has 2 casements with glazing bars and one
plain cross-pattern window. First floor has 4 casements, 2 with horizontal glazing
bars, flat band at first floor level to left section of facade. Evidence of consider-
able alteration to window openings. At rear, a late single-storey gabled extension
at left end. Continuous single-storey rear lean-to, part of which may be contemporary
with the house. Internally, ground floor room at left end has large open fireplace
with timber lintol and bread oven, and 2 chamfered ceiling beams. Timber-framed
partition between this room and adjoining unheated room. Cambered stop-chamfered
ceiling beam in cross-passage, on line of main rear wall. Room at right end has large
open fireplace with timber lintol and stone jambs. Rear wall timber framed.
Intersecting chamfered ceiling beams:- this floor not apparently framed into the rear
wall; - possibly an insertion. On first floor, some timber-framed partitions and
contemporary fireplaces. At right end, first floor ceiling raised to expose lower
parts of trusses.
