House and attached farmbuilding and adjoining cottage. Probably C17 origins. Stone
rubble. Slate roof with stone rubble end stacks. Lower roof to outbuilding on left
with hipped end and lower roof to adjoining cottage on right which has a gable end
and a stone rubble end stack.
Plan: Probably of two room and cross or through passage plan, the two rooms heated
by end stacks. Extended probably in C18 with one-room plan cottage on higher right
hand side. Extended probably in early C19 with barn of overall rectangular plan on
lower left hand side. The right hand side of the barn has been incorporated into the
house forming a one room plan range with a separate entrance.
Exterior: Two storeys. Almost symmetrical central 3-window range with entrance near
centre; C19 slate porch with part glazed probably C20 door within. Flanked to left
and right by probably C20 3-light and 2-light casements with dressed stone arches.
First floor with C20 3-light and two 2-light casements, all with chamfered timber
lintels. There is a row of pigeon holes in the lower left hand gable end. Attached
on higher right hand side a lower range of 2-storeys with plank door to left and C20
2-light casements to right on ground and first floor. Attached on lower left hand
end a 2-storey barn, the right hand side now part of the house. Dressed stone arches
to ground floor openings. Wide door to left of centre flanked by shippon door on
left and window on right. Plank door above wide ground floor opening. To far right,
adjoining the house, is a C20 door with C20 2-light casement on ground and first
floor to left.
