Circa 1860 rectory with Tudor detailing. Coursed limestone rubble. Plain
clay tiles. Two storeys and attics. Two ridge groups of moulded neo-Tudor
chimney flues. Ornately carved scalloped-edge bargeboards. S. elevation:
west end slightly projecting gabled wing with Higgins family crest in apex of
gable. Gabled dormer with carved bargeboards in main wing. Windows generally
are casements with stone surrounds and mullions and geometric leaded lights.
Some have drip moulds. Ground floor also has central canted bay with
castellated parapet and geometric pattern cast iron lights. To the E. of the
bay is a C20 leaded casement replacing the original doorway. Above this is a
niche containing the figure of a stone owl. E. elevation: further family
crest in gable end. Mock timber-framed first floor with red brick nogging
arranged in geometric patterns. This oversails on small ornately carved
corbels. Ground floor plastered with three recessed panels in architrave
surrounds. Right hand one contains doorway. To N. recessed wing with hipped
roof. One gabled dormer with 2-light casement winnow with pointed arched
glazing bars. Similar first floor window to right hand side with ground floor
leaded light below. To the left side is a tall staircase window divided into
12 lattice leaded panes by stone mullions and transoms.
