Snuff mill, now offices. c1833, with C19 and C20 additions.
Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roofs with
various stacks.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 10 bays. North front has a slightly
projecting centre with 2 small sashes on the upper floors,
topped with a pediment. Ground floor is covered by a C20
addition. To the left, 2 bays each with 2 sashes on the upper
floors and a single sash on the ground floor. To left again, a
single bay addition with a large iron framed window on each
floor. Beyond, a truncated engine stack, and then a lean-to
addition with a glazing bar casement.
South front has to right a projecting hipped wing, 3 bays. To
left, a 3-light casement, and above, 3 similar casements. On
the ground floor, a 3-light casement to left and 2 tall
windows to right.
Side elevation has a single casement on the upper floors and
below, a pair of 3-light casements. To the west, a 2-storey
range with 3 windows, and below, a pair of double doors, with
a 3-light window to right and 2 similar windows to left. To
left again, a 3 storey range with 3 windows on each floor.
This section has bands and a parapet with gables. The right
corner has a tall C20 brick elevator shaft.
INTERIOR contains a series of built-in mortars and pestles for
snuff grinding, on the ground floor. First floor has oven room
with barrel vaulted roof with top flue damper control.
