House, now residential home for the elderly. Mid C19. Dressed
squared sandstone, slate 2-span roof hipped at the right-hand
end. Double-pile plan.
2 storeys and 4 windows, with a plinth, rusticated quoins to
the right, a plain frieze and moulded gutter cornice; 4
unhorned sashed windows on each floor, all with raised sills
and plain surrounds; and a 3-window right-hand return wall
which has a square single-storey porch in the centre, with
corner pilasters, plain frieze and moulded cornice, and a
round-headed doorway to the front with pilaster jambs, cavetto
moulded imposts and head, a carved keystone, and panelled door
with plain fanlight; and a window in the side in similar
style. Ridge chimneys. Stepped rear wall with (inter alia) a
round-headed stair window with imposts and keystone, sashed
with glazing bars and coloured margin panes; single-storey
extension.
INTERIOR: lateral corridor; elaborate yellow marble fireplace
in front room, with semicircular opening; staircase with
slender cast-iron balusters.
Forms group with No.73 (qv) and No.71 (qv) to the right.
