Two chest tombs approx 15 metres
north of the tower of Church of St
Mary

GV II

Two chest tombs. Late C17/early C18 and early C19. Limestone.
One approx 12m NE of the north porch is early C19. Moulded top
swept up to a narrow ridge. The main block is of hard grey
limestone with fluted pilasters to the corners; a frieze of
horizontal rectangles with inverted corners alternates with
patera; similar rectangular panels to all sides, those to the
long sides are tapered toward the base.
Later C17/early C18 chest tomb approx 15m to NNW of the tower.
Plinth has sunk into the ground. A pulvinated frieze is over
raised and fielded panels with worn pulvinated mouldings, 3 to
the long sides one to each end, have worn inscriptions. The
large, overhanging top slab has moulded edges.
