BALCOMBE STREET, NWl
Nos. 7-15 (odd)

(Formerly listed as Nos. 9-15 (odd))

GV
II
Terrace of four houses, 1827-9, probably by James Thompson Parkinson, Surveyor to the Portman Estate. London stock brick, faced in stucco at ground floor level. Each of four storeys plus basement and attic; each is two bays wide; No 9 was originally three bays wide with crowning stucco cornice at parapet level, and C20 garage opening to right-hand bay (now No 7). Ground floor windows and doors all have shallow arches; all other windows are flat-arched with in gauged red brick. Doors and windows have been replaced except for No 9 which has its original door surround and fan-light. Long windows at first floor level reach down to a continuous balcony enclosed with Cottingham cast-iron balustrade; No 11 has later C19 window guard. Nos 11-15 retain their original area railings, with fir cone finials to standards and spearheaded rails. Interior not inspected but believed to have original staircases, 16-pane sash windows at rear with shutters, panelling, doors, skirtings, ceiling, mouldings etc.
