Ruins of manor house. Built c1510 for the Earls of Shrewsbury.
Demolished 1706. Restored c1910 and late C20. Coursed rubble,
dressed squared stone and brick. Roofless. Rectangular plan
running north-south, with kitchens at south end. Massive
restored ashlar stack with square shaft and crenellated top,
with a fireplace either side on each floor. South wall has to
left, a door flanked by single windows, all blocked, and to
right, 4 blocked openings. To left of the stack, a rectangular
range with part of the wall standing to 2 storey height, with
various openings. To right of the stack, a courtyard with
brick vaulted cellars below, and on the east wall an
unrestored square stack with a fireplace on each floor. West
wall has to right the base of a polygonal turret and to its
right, 3 basement rooms. To left, the west wall of the long
Gallery has blocked 4-light transomed lancets. At the north
end, a polygonal tower with a fireplace and on the east side a
garderobe.
