Windmill. c1807, for George Green. Burnt out 1947, restored to
working order 1981-86, as part of a museum.
Battered round brick tower, 5 stages, with renewed casement
windows, staggered, on each stage. 2 board doors on ground
level and first stage. Circular wooden gallery on first stage.
Ogee wooden cap with finial. Fantail and 4 sails, 2 spring, 2
common. The tower is original, the floors, gallery, cap, sails
etc. renewed.
INTERIOR has the full equipment of a C19 working mill, mainly
C19 machinery resited from various mills. The mill is in
regular use, grinding domestic flour.
This mill is typical of many built in the East Midlands during
the Napoleonic Wars.
