Pair of houses. Early C19. Gault brick under a slate roof.
EXTERIOR: each house of 3 storeys and 2-window range. No.82
has a 6-panelled door set to right with its 2 upper panels
glazed. Doric order portico porch stands on a pair of fluted
pilasters and fluted columns. Metope frieze and guttae to
soffit of cornice. To left is a single-storey bow window
fitted with 2 sashes formerly with 8/8 panes, now 4/4 owing to
loss of horizontal bars. Stuccoed moulded parapet with
cast-iron railings. First floor with two 6/6 sashes set in
recessed openings under gauged skewback arches. Two 6/3
second-floor sashes also with gauged skewback arches. Gabled
roof. Stack on rear slope. No.83 has wider bays. C20 door to
right behind a shallow C20 porch. One unhorned 6/6 sash left
under gauged skewback arches. 2 similar first-floor sashes and
two 6/3 sashes to second floor. Gabled roof with the stack on
the rear slope. To right of elevation is a plank door to rear
passageway. Rear of No.83 partly rebuilt 1992, doors and
windows all 1992.
INTERIOR: both houses with cantilevered stick-baluster
staircases with ramped and wreathed handrails and turned
newels.
