House. 1850; altered as public house in 1869; recently
refurbished. Watershot coursed sandstone, hipped slate roof.
Shallow rectangular plan on corner site, with spayed corner to
Hargreaves Street.
3 storeys over cellars, 1:4:1 windows (the 1st in the splayed
corner); with a moulded gutter cornice. The narrow splayed
corner has a doorway with a plain surround and moulded
cornice, and a door (now fixed) with a plain overlight.
Flanking this corner the one-bay return wall to Hargreaves
Street and the main facade to Hammerton Street each have at
ground floor a large square window with a restored wooden
pilastered architrave and cornice, that to the right
multi-paned and that to the left with restored plate-glass
etched with a large foliated pattern and lettering "BMB" in
monogram with "NEW WHITE HORSE" below. Otherwise, the main
facade has a similar doorway in the 3rd bay, and a plain
doorway in the end bay (the present main entrance); and both
facades have 12-pane sashed windows with raised sills and
plain surrounds. Ridge chimney.
INTERIOR altered.
Forms group with Nos 12 & 14 on opposite corner (qv) and with
Nos 9-29 on opposite side of street (qv).
