Description

LIPHOOK ROAD
1.
5393
(South Side)
Shottermill
Cherriman's
SU 8832 5/108
II
2.
House of several periods. Main range of early C18 parallel to road. Gabled right
cross-wing of late C18. One-storey left extensions probably of similar date.
Behind the left part of main range is the oldest part of the house - one bay only
of a timber framed house whose long-hipped roof suggests it may have been a hall.
To this has been added a C20 gable ended back bay in keeping with rest of house.
Tiled roofs, mostly high pitched, tile hung 1st floors, ground floors of brick
and rubble. Cross-wing of painted brick with cambered arches on return. Road
front of 2 storeys, 4 bays, with roof sweeping down in catslide to left and for
a short piece at right, with a one-storey front range framing 2 1st floor windows.
Early-mid C19 Gothick iron casements; and some Gothick door arches inside.
