The Three Magpies Inn
II
Inn, c1810, extended 1937, red brick with ashlar dressings, slate
roof, end stacks and ridge stack at original south end. Coped
north gable, half-hipped south gable. Two storeys, originally 3-
window range extended in matching style to five. Flush quoins,
paired 12-pane sashes in flush surrounds, raised plinth, band and
coved eaves cornice. Original building has double doors in reeded
ashlar surround with pediment on brackets and arched-headed blank
panel over with raised imposts and key, paired sashes each side.
Extension to left has matching doorcase with paired sashes above,
similar sashes to first floor left and ground floor projecting
square bay with three sashes. To right of original range is
stable, now converted, with plain tile roof, coped north gable, C20
20-pane sash to left and stable door to right flanked by small
casements and with roundel above, all in ashlar flush surrounds.
Flush quoins at north east angle. Inn was the New Inn until 1938.
