Manor house. 1662. Largely demolished 1769. Mid C19 and mid
C20 additions. For Samuel Brunsell. Brick with C20 plain tile
gabled and hipped roof. Cogged and dentillated eaves. Brick
quoins. 2 gable stacks and external side wall stack. 2 storeys
plus garrets, 4 bays. L-plan. Windows include timber mullioned
and cross mullioned leaded casements. West front has to left C20
brick garage, single storey, single bay, with pantile roof. To
right, framed C17 door in moulded jambs, flanked by single C20
leaded casements. Above, 3 mullioned leaded casements. Rendered
south west gable, to right, has C20 lean-to addition with a
casement. Above, 2 small casements to garret. Return angle has
to left, brick lean-to addition with a casement. To its right, 3
different C20 casements. Above, to right, blocked doorway
containing C20 casement. Outside, adjoining courtyard wall, C20,
brick, has 2 re-set ball finials. South front has to left, C20
addition with French window. To its right, blocked doorway and 3
mullioned leaded casements. Above, to left, square casement and
to right, 3 mullioned leaded casements. East front has off-
centre blocked opening with to left 2 and to right 3 leaded
casements. Above, off-centre blocked opening and 4 different
leaded casements. North gable has adjoining C19 garage, brick
with pantile roof, single storey, 2 bays. Above, small casement
to garret. Interior has C17 panelled room with arcading, moulded
cornice, pulvinated frieze, pedimented doorway and pilastered
fireplace with overmantel with fruit swags and central cherub
mask. Closet to right of fireplace contains C17 fitted desk and
cupboards. Compartmented panelled ceiling. 9 framed panelled
C18 doors with some original fittings. Main winder stair has
square newel and fragment of stud partition. Softwood winder
stair to attic. Restored C17 principal rafter roof with double
butt purlins, arched collars, and wind braces. Partly plastered.
Portion of stud partition. Single C19 Adam style curved back
fireplace.
