C15 alabaster effigy of a knight 1475. His face has been removed during the Reformation: a period of English history noted for anti-Catholic icon-bashing, encouraged by the Establishment. The diagonal patterning on the stone blocks to the left is Rustication. It has been added by masons to relieve the smoothness of power-cut stone. (Photo May 2008).
