School house and school room, now house, c.1719, mid and late
C19. Red brick, some rubble. Slate roofs. C18 build with left
external gable and single rear right red brick stacks. Brick
coped gables with kneelers. Rubble plinth. First floor band. 2
storeys, 3 bays. Central doorway with plank door. Over, breaking
the band, is a single slate tablet inscribed "Henry Tate Esq of
Burleigh Hall in Leicestershire and Mr William Tate of London
both born in this parish erected this Free School at their own
proper cost and charges. The ground on which it is erected was
the gift of Charles Parkyns Esq Lord of this Mannor Anno Dom
1719". To the right is a single glazing bar casement, to the
left a single smaller glazing bar casement. Above is a single
glazing bar sash with single glazing bar casement to the left.
Projecting from the left is a late C19 single storey 2 bay wing
with 2 tripartite casements, attached to the left is a lower
single bay wing with no openings. Projecting from the right of
the C18 build is a 2 storey, 2 bay mid C19 wing with external
gable red brick stack, brick coped gable with kneelers and
sprocketed eaves. Segmental arched doorway with panelled door,
to the right is a single C20 glazing bar casement and above is a
single small glazing bar casement.
