SD 62 SE TOCKHOLES (off) CHAPELS LANE

- Lower Crow Trees

GV II

Barn, dated 1671, extended and altered later. Sandstone rubble with quoins,
corrugated asbestos roof (damaged at time of survey). Three bays, with 4th
added at right end. Wagon entrance to centre bay has short porch with right
cheek, damaged roof, later lean-to on left covering 1st bay; to right, 3rd
bay has plain doorway with large lintel above which is a datestone with
moulded surround, lettered in relief:- W . M. Addition to right is of
1671
random rubble, has a small doorway and a square upper opening with chamfered
surround; this part recently gale damaged. (Continued to left on a higher
level is barn c.30 metres north west of Higher Crow Trees, q.v.). Listed
for Group Value only.
