Transhipment warehouse at former canal wharf. Mid C19. Brick
and timber framing. Slate roof. 2 storeys. Brick lower storey.
Timber-framed upper storey with brick infill panels. Wooden
slatted gables with plain bargeboards. 4, circular, decorated
iron tie-plates close to corners of building. Roadside gable
wall has planked loading door which slides open. Canalside gable
wall has similar door at canal level, and off-centre window in
upper storey above. East wall has 2 sets of similar, double
loading doors, one set above another. Interior of upper storey
has plank floor and 2 industrial king-post roof trusses carrying
purlins and rafters. A rare surviving example of a rural,
canal/road transhipment warehouse, of a type once more common on
the Shropshire Union Canal system. The warehouse had group value
with the adjoining listed Bridge No 74 and with Heath House, q.v.
