House, now registered office of Burgess Animal Feeds. Late C18 with later
alteration and extension. For John Priestman. Hammer-dressed sandstone to
front with chamfered quoins; dressed sandstone to sides and rear with
herringbone-tooled quoins to rear. Timber porch. Pantile roof with brick
stacks. Central stairhall plan, 1½ rooms deep with rear service extension.
2-storey, symmetrical 3-window front. Central 6-panel door with overlight
beneath cornice porch on piers. 16-pane sashes with painted sills
throughout. Painted wedge lintels to all openings. Stepped eaves course.
Coped gables and shaped kneelers. End stack. Interior: closed string
staircase with stick balusters, turned newel and moulded handrail. Fluted '
square architraves to door and window openings in front rooms on both
floors, including the firewindow in the ground floor room to left. Similar
architraves to alcoves in the 2 first-floor front rooms. Most doors are of
6 raised and fielded panels.
