Detached farm house. C18 and C19. Ham stone roughly cut and squared, ashlar dressings; plain clay tiled roof over stone
slate base courses between stepped coped gables; brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. Two storeys, 5 bays, of
which bays 1 and 2 are probably a C19 extension. Plain mullioned windows with slight chamfers to bays 1 and 2, 2-light
with horizontal bar casements inserted; blocked doorway between lower windows and straight joint to right of bay 2;
bays 3 and 5 have 2-storey right angled bay windows of 1+3+1 lights, plain mullions slightly chamfered with simple
architrave, shallow pitched slate roofs: to upper bay 4 a 3-light hollow chamfered mullioned window in chamfered
recess, without label; all with horizontal bar casements inserted: to lower bay 4 a plain boarded door in slightly
chamfered ashlar surround with label over. Attached to noth-west gable a C18 extension, straight jointed, having upper
ground floor and semi-basement, possibly a cider room, with roof set lower; above a 2-light hollow chamfered mullioned
window, and to left a doorway with flight of stone steps up; below a 3-light mullioned window: 2-light window and door
to lower level in gable. Further C19 extensions to rear. Until 1800 the London Inn, prior to re-routing of
London-Exeter road; earlier used for court hearings. (VAG Report unpublished SRO, September l972).
