Inscription on plinth ERECTED BY THE OWNERS /OFFICIALS AND WORKMEN /OF SOUTH PONTOP COLLIERY/IN MEMORY OF/ OUR VILLAGE COMRADES/ WHO FELL IN/ THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918. with motto on base.
