Farmhouse, now house. Later C17 (said to date from c.1670) ;
much altered. Brick mostly painted white, stone slate roof.
Rectangular one-and-a-half depth plan. Two storeys and 2
windows; central C19 gabled porch covering original pedimented
door surround with pilasters all in brick; 2 steel casement
windows. Chimney stack offset slightly right of centre. Rear
has 2 small 2-light horizontal-slding sashes at 1st floor
(lean-to porch and outbuilding to right). Interior: 2 pairs of
C17 chamfered ceiling beams, those in the left front room
axial with cyma stops, those in the other room lateral and of
less quality; dog-legged staircase with splat-balusters. Early
and rare example of small house with rectangular and almost
double-depth plan, and almost symmetrical facade. Forms group
with Nos 2 and 4 (Shoresfold Cottages), q.v.
