Former Cowhouse to SE of Dairy House

Cowhouse. c.1777. Flemish bond red brick; gabled corrugated iron roof.
Rectangular plan. One storey; 4-window range. Flat gauged brick arches over,
from left, blocked window, narrowed C20 window, C19 plank door and 3 C20 windows;
inserted doorway to left; dentilled brick eaves; C20 plank door to loft
set in raking half dormer. Similar arch over C19 plank door to rear. Interior:
chamfered beams and clasped-purlin roof. Built as part of Farm complex shown on
1778 map of Mistley Hall estate (now in Essex Records Office). Included for
group value.
