Early C19 lodge and triumphal arch entrance gate. The lodge to West is a
single storey building of coursed rubble with rusticated quoins and
plinth. Low pitch gable end stone tile roof, the eaves concealed by
parapet with coping. Block string course runs above single casement window
of 3 lights with glazing bars, recessed in rusticated ashlar surround.
Adjacent to the lodge is a triumphal arch gateway flanked up to the spring
of the arch by blind bays of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Cornice
and panelled parapet to each crowned by urns and in centre a block
supporting a reclining lion. They contain blind round headed niches in
architrave surrounds reaching down through plinth to ground level and
pedestals intended for statuary, The cornice of the bays is carried on to
the piers of the archway, acting as imposts to the springing of the arch.
The arch has an ashlar architrave and a keystone running across the soffit
and breaking up into frieze and main dentil cornice above. Parapet with
flanking piers, recessed panel in centre bearing motto "qui si sana".
