Top half of an incised slab in the south chapel. The Latin blackletter may have been recut to say -Ecce sepulcrum Ricardus-, to please antiquaries. Originally it said, in Latin -Here lie Richard Digby and Agnes his wife, of whom Richard died 17th day in the month of October and Agnes the last day but one of October, in the year of Our Lord 1379. (White, History of Rutland, 1684). Richards son Everard was the husband of Jaqueta. (Photo Oct 2007).
