Signal box. 1930s. A good example of a Southern Region electro-mechanical Signal
box in International modern style. Built of brick in English bond with cement
decorations & flat roof with overhanging canopy comprises 2 storey central portion
with 5 casement windows and rounded end, a band with 'Woking' inscribed on a panel
and 5 windows opening to ground floor, 4 of which have been blocked. Attached
are 1 storey wings with cement cornices, the right hand wing has 2 doors and 2
blanks, the left side wing has 2 doors and 3 casement windows. Interior not inspected
but equipment reported to be of transitional stage from mechanical signalling to
full power signalling.
