House. Probably late C18 with C19 additions and alterations. Red brick
with purple brick headers; slate roof has coped verges on carved kneelers
with pointed stone finials. 3 storeys with painted dentilled eaves
cornice and fluted band below. 3-window front, 16-paned glazing bar
sashes with wedge lintels and raised keystones and bracketed cills.
Central entrance; stone Tuscan porch with carving of ship's anchor to
shaped pediment over plain pilastered stone doorcase with 6-panel door
and rectangular overlight. Internal end stacks. Inscription "SW (inverted)/
1898" to bricks above centre first-floor window. Full-height gable
in centre to rear accommodates back staircase. Interior: oak winder
staircase to rear gable removed between ground and first floors. Panelled
shutters to front ground-floor windows.
