1-3m north east of chancel
in churchyard of Church of
St John the Baptist

Five chest tombs to Oldham family, C18. All limestone with flat
top. Nearest to chancel: Rebecca, 1795 earliest decipherable
date but probably mid C18. Moulded plinth and capping, quarter
baluster corners, plain fielded ends and sides, latter divided into
three. In line to east of Rebecca, from south to north:
1) Unidentified member of Oldham family, early C18, moulded
capping, no plinth visible, plain recessed panels to ends and
sides. 2) Ann, early C18. Moulded plinth and capping, lyre
ends, 2 circular panels with wreath moulding to each side. 3)
Daniel 1732, moulded plinth and capping, quarter baluster corners,
plain fielded ends and south side, north side with large central
rectangular panel and small flanking panels, all egg and dart
moulded. 4) Unidentified member of Oldham family, 1746, as
Daniel. All 5 chests partially overgrown at time of survey (April
1986) and in very poor condition, with 2 to north partially
collapsed at sides.
