This former stable block, with its shoulder leaning on the pavement, is a survival.
The Georgian buildings, Nos. 14 (The Red House), 16, and 18 Park Road were pulled down to make way for a relief road (Norman Way), smoothly linking Asfordby Road, Park Road and Norman Street. By modern standards, Norman Street was very narrow, and in the development lost all the buildings on its Northern side. Two of these were rebuilt; the Working Men's Club and next door Oddfellows' Hall.
