Description

SHIPTON MOYNE ESTCOURT PARK
ST 89 SE
7/161 Small barn to south west
of main stable block
GV II

Small barn. Probably early C19. Random coursed rubble stone
with large flush quoins, hipped stone slate roof. North side
towards courtyard has large segmental-headed arch with wattle panel
infill to top and double timber doors below; opposed similar
opening, both with small flanking loft openings, with additional
door to right on south side. Loft openings in ends. Four main
bays with low collar beam truss and additional king post to central
truss. Very overgrown on south side at time of survey (April
1986). Although a modest building, it forms an important feature
in the surviving stable group of Estcourt Park, with the animal
shelters (q.v.) opposite, and main stable block (q.v.) and former
coach house (q.v.) to the east.
