Circa 1830. Originally the "4 Jays" Public House. Three storeys red brick
and grey headers, common in Newport but unusual for Ryde. Low pitch hipped
slate roof, projecting eaves. Three windows, Ist floor centre blind and on
2nd floor large rectangular stucco panel. Windows are recessed sash, glazing
bars, block sills rubbed brick flat arches. First floor window to left is a
shallow bay of 3 lights, sash, glazing bars, Tuscan pilaster frieze and cornice
projecting to sides, stepped apron. Central recessed modern door, flat brick
arch over. Stone step.
