Barn. C16. Timber framed interior to concrete block walls some brick and
flint and corrugated asbestos cement roof. An aisled 6-bay barn with wide
entrance to the east upper half-hipped end; plain gabale to west abuts lower
building which is the east under half-hipped end; plain gable to west abuts
lower building which is not of special interest. The long walls each have 5
galvanised steel lights, and the blocked west gable wall is in brickwork. At
the entrance end the timber framework is partly exposed with brick and flint
panels under weather-boarded gable: wide opening with sliding corrugated
steel door. Interior: remains intact, on concrete floor. The west gate wall
is built just beyond the last frame, suggesting a probable loss of a final
half-hipped bay. Jowelled main posts to strutted main tie carring queen posts
and heavy collar. Posts strutted to aisle plate, some wind bracing in bays 2,
3 and 4 from west. One main purlin and one aisle purlin. Main posts set to
stone posts with spur walls in concrete block, tie back to plate level. Early
rafters. A barn disguised externally with C20 work but excellently retained
within.
