House incorporating shops. C15, extended late C17, restored mid to late C20 by
John Smith of Kinver. Timber framed; plain tile roof. Framing: closely spaced
studs to the front, large rectangular panels to the rear; the studs are secured
by a single peg at each end; C17 extension has small square panels and a tension
brace. T-shaped plan. The C15 range of 2 framed bays is parallel to the street;
it has a chimney stack on the north-west side of the central truss and an alleyway
at its south-east end from which a door once led into the south-east bay. To the
rear is a C17 single-bay wing. 2 Storeys; the upper floor is jettied, a moulded
jetty beam being morticed on to the ends of the joists. 2 Bays, C20 five-light
wood mullioned windows to first floor; 2 C20 plate glass shop fronts to ground
floor each with a glazed door. Boarded door to right giving access to the alleyway.
Interior: chamfered and stopped spine beam and joists laid flat. 3 C15 queen
strut roof trusses with curved windbraces; late C17 interrupted tie beam truss
With V-struts above the collar.
