House, early C16 with alterations of early C19. 2 storeys, 2 windows.
Timber-framed and pebble-dashed at upper storey; C19 red brick lower storey.
The upper storey was originally long-wall jettied towards the street.
Plaintiled roof with rear chimney of red brick. C19 windows with casements
and transomes, those at ground storey having flat-arched heads of gauged
brick. C19 boarded entrance door. This single-cell building was originally
added to a pre-existing structure at No.29 Hawksmill Street, becoming a
separate tenement in C19. The high ground storey room has a good ceiling of
roll-moulded joists and embattled main beams, a girth from beneath the front
wall jetty, also embattled, was reused in a C19 alteration to the gable wall.
A blocked doorway into No.29 has a 3-centred arched head, and a further blind
arch above. Plain crown-post roof with 2-way bracing. A large and very tall
fireplace with cambered lintel was added against rear wall in late C16 or C17.
