The Cottage and Brierfield

II

House now 2 dwellings. Dated 1768 with additions of 1903, coursed
and squared large stone blocks with ashlar dressings; clay tile roof
with coped verges; coursed and squared stone integral end stacks.
Originally a 2-room range with entrance to south end of west side,
extended to north in 1903 and to south probably at the same time.
2-storey main range to left and 2-storey set back extension to right.
Main range: 3 windows, those to centre and right are 3-light chamfer
mullioned windows possibly of 1768 containing casements, those to
ground floor have straight hood moulds, casement to first floor left
of 1903; boarded door to right with rounded segmental head and straight
hood mould, heavy lintel dated 1768; door to left with rounded
segmental head dated 1903. Right hand extension: 2 windows; casements;
central gabled porch with C20 aluminium top opening window; privy to
right with roof sloping to right. Interior: Exposed chamfered beams
with ogee steps.
